About a week ago I got a slight cold along with a throat infection. Because I know a lot about nutrition and alternative healing protocols, I was able to really get through it quite quickly.
Until….
The infection settled in my left ear.
Ugh!
The worst part about it is not being able to sleep. Learning how to sleep with an ear infection isn’t easy.
I had to adapt quite a bit. As you know I used to have insomnia and could never get a good sleep.
About 12 years ago I healed my mitochondria and restored my circadian rhythm and now I sleep great. I usually fall asleep in about 10 minutes or less and I normally don’t even get up in the middle of the night to go pee.
I go to bed around 10pm and wake up around 6:30 or 7:00am and feel great.
For the past week with this ear infection things have been a bit unsettled to say the least. If you’ve ever had an ear infection you know how it’s stabbing pain.
Sometimes it feels like a constant dull ache and then out of nowhere it becomes acute and stabbing (this is what would keep me awake at night for the past week or so).
I’ll share a few products you can buy and some things to try that worked for me but if you’re reading this article at 2am when stores are closed because your ear infection is stabbing, I don’t think this is going to help you much.
What you’ll need to do is make sure you have Amazon Prime and order a few of these products so that you can knock this ear infection out tomorrow morning.
Make sense?
First…
What Is An Ear Infection?
An ear infection, often referred to as otitis media, is an inflammation of the middle ear, typically caused by bacteria or viruses. It can lead to symptoms such as pain, fluid buildup, and temporary hearing loss (what happened to me), and is most common in children but can occur at any age.
It is characterized by the accumulation of fluid in the middle ear, which can lead to pain, fever, and sometimes a discharge if the eardrum ruptures.
What Causes Ear Infections?
Ear infections often come on due to colds, allergies, or respiratory infections that cause the Eustachian tubes to become blocked or swollen.
- Respiratory Infections: Bacteria from respiratory infections, allergies, and colds can reach the ears, causing your ear infections.
- Eustachian Tube Blockage: The Eustachian tube, which connects the middle ear to the back of the throat, can become blocked or infected, leading to ear infections. This blockage can be caused by factors such as cigarette smoke, air pollution, and even common colds. In other words inflammation.
- Food Allergies: A significant number of children with recurrent middle-ear infections have been found to have food allergies. Eliminating specific foods from their diet has shown to significantly reduce the occurrence of ear infections. The most common allergenic foods are, dairy, sugar, wheat, eggs, soy, fish, peanuts and corn.
- Chronic Catarrh: Chronic catarrh of the nose or throat, often due to enlarged and diseased tonsils, adenoids, or nasal obstructions, can lead to frequent ear infections.
How To Get Rid of An Ear Infection Naturally
Learning how to sleep with an ear infection is tricky. If you can sleep you can heal, but the pain is so bad, you can’t sleep which further exacerbates the problem. See how one thing leads to another?
I’m a natural guy. I like using molecules found in nature that the body recognizes in order to heal. This is my wheel house. My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1995 which opened my eyes to this whole world of natural healing, which has changed my life.
If you’re reading this in the middle of the night because the pain is so bad from your ear infection, I would hope that at the very least you’re using special software to eliminate all blue light and you’re wearing your blue light blocking glasses. If you’re into optimizing your sleep here are the glasses I wear.
You are doing that right?
Right? 🙂
In order to get back to sleep when I had my ear infection here’s what I did.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C has been a game changer for me. Humans have to supplement it because we lack the enzyme necessary to produce it inside our own bodies. As a result anytime a non human mammal is exposed to a toxin, chemical, bacteria or virus it immediately starts producing massive amounts of vitamin C.
So any infection you have will be helped by increasing your vitamin C dosage. You’ll learn that the more your body needs it (the infection is bad) the more you can take without it upsetting your digestive system. This is called bowel tolerance.
In other words, the sicker you are the more you can take.
We know that Vitamin C plays a crucial role in fighting infections, including ear infections, by boosting your immune system. It helps increase levels of antibody-producing lymphocytes, supports the function of infection-engulfing neutrophils, and enhances natural killer cell activity.
Also the other cool thing about vitamin CÂ is that it neutralizes excess free radicals, supports the production of collagen to maintain anti-infection barriers, and reduces histamine, which is involved in infections and allergy symptoms.
Ozone Ear Insufflations
Ozone therapy for any kind of ear infection along with another general infections is incredibly powerful. I’m so blessed to have my own ozone machine in my home. It’s expensive (around $1,500) but worth every penny and more.
Having an ozone machine in your home is like having a hospital, doctors office and emergency room all rolled into one. There are many ways of using ozone in and on the body that make it incredibly versatile.
For this last ear infection I had that was causing major sleep issues (mostly due to being in pain and being uncomfortable, I could lay on my side) ozone was my saving grace.
You can administer what they alle “ozone ear insufflations” which essentially means filling a syringe full of ozone gas. Then you take a Q-tip and attach it to the end of the syringe. Then you blow the ozonated gas into your ear.
Magic happens. After a day or so, the ear infection was completely gone.
Here’s how it works…
Ozone can effectively kill infections by utilizing its strong oxidative properties. Here are the key points:
- Destruction of Pathogens: Ozone kills microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and yeasts by oxidizing their cell walls, leading to cell lysis and death.
- Selective Toxicity: Ozone is selectively toxic, meaning it targets harmful cells while leaving healthy cells unharmed. This makes it effective in treating infections without damaging the body’s healthy tissues.
- Immune System Support: By eliminating pathogens and reducing the overall microbial load, ozone helps to strengthen the immune system and improve the body’s overall immune response.
If you have a family or are prone to getting sick with colds and flus, having a high quality ozone machine at home can save you thousands of dollars and a ton of suffering and heartache from being sick.
If you can afford, I HIGHLY recommend getting one and learning how to use it.
How to sleep with an ear infection just got easier!
Ear Oils
A secret weapon for me to sleep better with my ear infection was using ear oils. These are simply oils you can get that contain antibacterial and antifungal properties like garlic. The one I used with great success was this particular one from a company called Herb Pharm.
This one uses herbs like calendula, St. Johns Wort, mullein, and garlic. Garlic is really the main anti infection ingredient in this product.
We know that garlic is antifungal as well as antibacterial in nature. That means it kills infections fast.
Below I’ll share how I used this along with the ozone ear insufflations.
IV Treatments
IV treatments can be very powerful for any infection. There are several to choose from. Some options are…
- Ozone
- Peroxide
- DMSO
- Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation
- Vitamin C
- Methylene Blue
I only use these if I absolutely need to. If I feel like I’m going to die or if I get an ear infection or just a cold or flu right before a trip, I’ll do a few sessions of these powerful IV treatments. You can find a natural doctor who does this kind of work in your area on this page.
Conclusion
In conclusion if you are not able to fall asleep because of the pain of your ear infection, I would immediately buy some Vitamin C here, and go onto Amazon and get these garlic ear drops for ear infections. In the morning I would try to find a doctor in your area that does some of those IV treatments and get them done.
I did ozone ear insufflations 4x per day and in between those sessions I would do the garlic ear drops. It only took two full days to get rid of my ear infection naturally. After 3 sessions of ozone, I had no more pain.
Incredible.
Now I know how to sleep with an ear infection by killing the infection! 🙂
