If you’re wondering why does my body hurt when I wake up, you’re reading the right article right now. I used to have this problem and in fact it still happens to me from time to time.
The good news is that if you wake up achy all over with sore muscles, it can be corrected. The bad news is that having pain and discomfort in the morning could be a sign that your body is telling you something else is wrong.
The good news to that bad news is that even if something is wrong with your body that’s producing this kind of tenderness or stiffness in your muscles or nerves, it too can be corrected.
I want to really impart to you that if you have insomnia or your waking up in agony from pain, you can heal yourself naturally without medications or pharmaceutical drugs.
The answers to EVERY HEALTH CONDITION are out there, we just have to have the desire and commitment to finding them.
There’s a great quote that says, “The only disease is a closed mind”.
I really like that because it’s true. Every twinge and throb in your body is an “Invitation to life change” as my virtual mentor Jim Rohn says, in his life changing presentation called “The Challenge To Succeed.”
If you’re willing to open your mind and get to the root cause of any illness or ailment, you’re on the path to healing. As my friend Dr. Richard Massey says, “The body is always healing”.
An Ancient Fable You Should Know
I once heard a an ancient story where a man was having digestive issues in China thousands of years ago. He felt like he was going to die he was hurting so bad. He managed to muster up the strength to visit the local medicine man in his village. The medicine man told the sick man that your remedy is one particular herb that’s located hundreds of miles away.
At first the sick man, thought he barely had the strength to visit the Shaman how could he hike for multiple days in a row to find an herb that may or may not be there and may or may not even work.
Even if the herb did work, would he have the strength to make it back or would he die on his journey? What if he couldn’t find the herb? What if he found it, but wasn’t able to procure it? What if he found it, procured it but wasn’t able to process it into medicine until he got back?
How would he eat along the way? Where would he sleep? Where would he get his strength? Would it be worth the journey? What if he stayed home and it healed all by itself?
These are all questions we have now when faced with things like pain when we get up in the morning or if we get diagnosed with insomnia or even cancer.
As soon as a “diagnosis” comes, we have a journey to embark on.
During this story the sick man mustered up the courage to embark on this journey. It took him 3 days of hiking alone through the mountains in extreme temperatures and exposed to the dangers of wildlife.
On day #3 he came across the herb and he realized that he was feeling much better. It occurred to him he didn’t even need the remedy, he was healed! Even though he didn’t need it, he brought some back home “just in case” any friends or family were sick.
When he arrived back home, it turns out his son got sick with the same exact thing the same day he left on his journey. His son almost died if it were not for the medicine the sick man brought back from his own healing journey.
His son wasn’t even sick when the man started.
But it turned out he saved his son’s life by following his intuition to personal growth.
The Moral of the Story
The moral of the story is that even though you might be waking up with extreme pain and in agony, there’s something deeper going on. I believe that whenever we’re in distress or suffering in some way, God is tapping us on the shoulder letting us know we need to make life changes.
The journey of personal growth and personal development is what God wants. He uses our body to give us some kind of inflammation or pain to course correct our lives. Sometimes we don’t even need a medicine, we just have to be willing to say yes to going on a journey of self discovery and growth.
In the process of healing ourselves, we also heal each other as with the case of the sick man in this story. He saved his son’s life.
There’s always a reason for sickness, pain, illness and disease that we don’t realize.
Anyway I digress from the main topic of this article is answering the question, why does my body hurt when i wake up?
First look to see if God is trying to communicate to you through this pain you have in the morning.
After that here’s a list of things that could be related to waking up with soreness and pain.
“A good night’s sleep is a critical part of a healthy lifestyle. It’s as essential as nutrition and exercise, serving as the body’s natural reset button for both physical and mental health.” Dr. Matthew Carter
Exercise
I’ve lifted weights my entire life. I started in high school and then took a couple years off after high school but kept up 3 to 4 days a week for 28 years now. If I take a vacation and don’t workout for a week or so and then I get back in the gym, I’ll wake up in pure agony the next morning.
It’s par for the course.
Have you started exercising lately? Have you switched up your workouts recently?
If you try a new exercise you could wake up stiff or with tight muscles. This happened to me when I did Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I was constantly straining my muscles and tendons during the training sessions. I woke up sore every day after training. This was normal for me.
I always recommend stretching or doing yoga on a regular basis. I stretch my muscles multiple times per day and it’s even a part of my nighttime bed routine. I always stretch no matter what to reduce inflammation and stiffness.
“Sleep is the best meditation. A well-rested mind is the foundation of clarity, strength, and inner peace, essential for navigating life’s challenges.” — Dalai Lama
Dehydration
Why does my body hurt when I wake up?
It could be simply due to not being hydrated enough. I weight 185lbs and drink 96 ounces of water per day. I also drink green juices, coffee and maybe fruit smoothie as well. Raw fruits and vegetables has structured water in it. Some people call this The Fourth Phase of Water.
I add minerals and salt to all the water I drink and I make sure I run it through the highest quality water filter available.
Around 2005 my wife got me onto drinking more water as a discipline. It has changed everything for me, including my sleep.
Drink more water as it helps reduce pain by decreasing the viscosity of blood. When your blood is less viscous it can transport oxygen through hemoglobin much more effectively. When oxygen and nutrients can be delivered to key organs and muscles, pain can be significantly diminished.
“Sleep is the ultimate performance enhancer. In our pursuit of success, we often neglect rest, yet it is the very cornerstone of productivity, creativity, and optimal health.” — Arianna Huffington
Stress
Stress causes electron loss which increases inflammation in every cell, tissue, gland and organ in your body. Stress can come in the form of a bad marriage, a terrible job, relationship issues with friends or work collogues, arguing online, watching the news, eating toxic food that has chemicals or heavy metals in them.
Stress comes in many forms.
The antidote to stress is magnesium which you can take in bath form, transdermally, in food, in water and in supplement form.
Magnesium runs 3,751 of your 9,000 enzymes. It’s the first mineral lost due to stress. Make magnesium a major part of your life.
“Sleep is that golden chain that ties health and our bodies together. Without it, we are not merely tired but weakened in both body and spirit.” — Thomas Dekker
Being Sick
Waking up in throbbing pain could just be the result of being sick with a cold or flu. It kind of feels like you have fibromyalgia where you’re so sensitive to even the slightest touch. If you’re not sick there’s a chance your body is fighting off a virus or pathogen without you even knowing it.
I’d just keep an eye on how often your body hurts when you wake up.
“Healthy sleep has been empirically proven to be the single most important determinant in predicting longevity, more important than diet, exercise, or heredity.” — Dr. William Dement
Diet
I mentioned magnesium but if you’re not getting enough vitamins and minerals in your diet, this will likely lead to oxidation and inflammation. A good way to get more is to supplement with Intramax. I take 1 shot twice per day. It contains 400+ ingredients in fulvic acid so your body recognizes it as food.
If you have inflammation in your body, what you need to do is supplement with antioxidants. The highest antioxidant by far is something called Dragon’s Blood. I also recommend grounding in conjunction with taking antioxidants. They work hand in hand. If you want to take it a step further in regards to grounding, you could sleep with special earth grounding bed sheets that can be very effective at reducing pain and inflammation.
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live. Prioritizing sleep is not a luxury; it’s a necessity for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.” — Jim Rohn
Food Allergies
“Why does my body hurt when i wake up?” it could be due to food allergies. The most common food allergies are…
- Wheat
- Corn
- Dairy
- Eggs
- Soy
- Fish
- Nuts
Look to see if you consume them on a regular basis. Food allergies cause all kinds of problems in the body from digestive issues like crohn’s disease to hearing problems and more. You can test your pulse before and after consuming a food if you want to test at home. Or you could get a simply food allergy test.
“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. The rhythms of our sleep profoundly affect every aspect of our lives.” — Benjamin Franklin
Sleep Position
Sleeping in one position for a prolonged period of time can reduce blood flow and create stiffness and soreness when you wake up. I recommend SLEEPING ON Y OUR LEFT SIDE or your back if possible. Sleeping on your stomach can increase pressure on the vertebrae in your spine which contracts muscles in your back causing pain in the morning.
“Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind, and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open, and this is best achieved with adequate sleep.” — B. K. S. Iyengar
Poor Mattress
Why does my body hurt when I wake up?
Well how long has it been since you bought a new mattress? Most people have their mattresses for over 20 years. If your mattress is over 10 years old and you’re waking up in pain, the first thing I’d do is buy a new mattress.
Taking it another step further is to sleep on a special magnetic mattress pad which is what we do. We have the 10 gauss version of the Magnetico.
“Sleep is a pillar of health, essential for both the mind and body. Without it, our capacity to function in the world is significantly compromised.” — Dr. Meir Kryger
Underlying Health Conditions
Waking up in pain on a regular basis is not natural and it could mean your body is simply using its energy to heal what’s going on vs using it to repair tissue which is why you’re waking up in pain every morning. Here are some health conditions you may want to be aware of in relation to waking up with pain.
- Stress
- Over the age of 45
- Fibromyalgia
- Arthritis (osteo or rheumatoid)
- Pregnancy (are you pregnant and not know it???!)
- Viral infection like a cold or flu
- Your body is detoxing
- Anemia
- Histoplasmosis
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Mono
- Lupus
- Lyme Disease
- Multiple sclerosis
“The first wealth is health. Sleep, the body’s most natural healing tool, is essential in preserving that wealth and fostering a life of fulfillment and purpose.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
Poor Sleep Quality
Sleep is a time when the body restores, renews and replenishes itself. It’s time to build new tissue and detoxify chemicals, heavy metals, toxins, parasites and other poisons we bioaccumulate each day. If you have a build up of these toxins in your system and they cannot get out, you may feel pain when you wake up. They have to be stored somewhere in your body.
It would be like having to go pee but you prevent your body from urinating. Can you imagine the pain and uncomfortable feeling you’d have?
If these toxins are unable to be mobilized and secreted, it’s going to manifest as some form of oxidative stress resulting in soreness when you wake up.
Perhaps you should consider a colon cleanse, a parasite cleanse and perhaps even a heavy metal cleanse to see if you can wake up with no pain or soreness.
“To achieve optimal health, one must first prioritize sleep. It is the body’s way of healing, restoring, and preparing you for the challenges of the day ahead.” — Dr. David Perlmutter
Conclusion
The other things I’d like to touch on is cleansing the lymphatic system before bed. You can do this manually yourself. It’s free and takes about 60 seconds to do. I take a shower (with red lights in my bathroom of course) before bed and with the soap, it’s easy to do.
After reading this article, I hope you no longer have to ask the question “Why does my body hurt when I wake up?” and now you have some tools and things to look at to help your body get back to homeostasis and living a life with no pain.
